Are Lip Fillers safe?

Lip Fillers consist of Hyaluronic acid and this is one of nature’s most versatile and fascinating substances. It is found throughout the body as well as in most other living organisms. It has many functions, from giving the skin elasticity and providing our skin with volume, to giving it a youthful appearance. Dermal fillers consist of sterile gels consisting of non-animal, cross-linked, hyaluronic acid (HA) and are made in a laboratory. These products are FDA approved for use in the nasolabial fold and are used “off-label” in other areas.

How do Lip Fillers work?

Our Medical practitioners will first perform a consultation and assess the volume and size of lips that will suit your face shape and satisfy your treatment goals and then decide on the best type of filler for your lips. The lip area is then numbed to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. The injections are inserted in the correct areas of the lips that require volume and correction. After the procedure you will be shown the results and more filler can be added if required.

Am I suitable?

You are suitable if you want to increase the volume and size of your lips, want to change the shape of your lips, correct asymmetry or a gummy smile.

Will it hurt?

A numbing cream will be used before the procedure and the injections contain Lidocaine. The procedure is not painful but you may feel slight discomfort. Clients describe it as a tiny scratch as the needle goes in. You will have an ice pack during the procedure to ensure you are comfortable and that you heal well after the procedure.

What is the downtime?

You can return to your normal activities after the treatment, but please not you may have some swelling and bruising which is common with any filler treatment. If there is any swelling or bruising this should subside within 7 days.

When Can I wear Lipstick again?

We recommend you avoid any lip products including lip liners or lipstick for 12 hours after your lip filler procedure.

How will the Lips feel after the treatment?

After the treatment your lips will feel tender and sore for the first couple of days and your lips will feel tender and you may have the sensation that there is something on your lips. After a week to 10 days your lips will feel normal and there should be not tenderness.
